At Crichigno Orthodontics we know that each case is different when it comes orthodontic treatment and each patient has an individual preference when it comes to choosing their braces. This is why Dr. Crichigno and his friendly staff are happy to be able to provide patients with multiple options when it comes to braces.
Dr. Nick Offers Multiple Options For Braces
When it comes to orthodontic braces there are different types to be considered. Some of these options may be fixed appliances such as traditional metal braces, while others are easily removable, such as Invisalign. Though we are proud to be able to provide multiple options, every patient may not be a candidate for each treatment option. Luckily for our patients, we have the wonderful Dr. Nick to help determine the best treatment option for you which could be any of the below.
Traditional Metal Braces
Metal braces are the most common type of orthodontic braces for patients in the early and adolescent stage. These more traditional braces are made of high quality stainless steel and consist of metal bands and small metal brackets that are cemented to the front surfaces of the teeth. There are many benefits to wearing traditional metal braces including the following:
- Effective and economical
- Traditional look
This type of braces is perfect for patients that are entering early and adolescent orthodontic treatment. Customize your metal braces with colorful bands to reflect your school colors or your favorite color for a brighter smile!
Some of you might not be familiar with ceramic braces, how they look, and what the difference is between them and the more traditional metal braces. Ceramic braces use the same components as metal braces, the only difference is that the brackets on the front of the teeth are made of a clear ceramic material. This material fits in and blends with the color of your teeth making it less obvious you are undergoing orthodontic care. Though ceramic braces may cost more than the traditional metal braces, it is worth it for adolescents and adults that want inconspicuous appliances.
If you are looking for a less visible form of orthodontic treatment it doesn’t end with ceramic braces. Another option for straightening your smile is using lingual braces which allows fixed braces to be virtually invisible. This form of braces is placed on the “tongue side” or the backside of the teeth. Though this approach is less visible to other people it is more expensive and takes a specially trained orthodontist to apply. This type of system can also require a longer treatment process and can take a little longer for the patient to get used to. If you think you may be interested in lingual braces, we would be happy to answer any questions you may have about the process.
